Modern Georgian or Regency revival interiors came to the fore in 1835, lasting 15 years to 1950. At that time, interior designers sought to bring back elements from the Regency period 1811 to 1820, when the prince Regent ruled England. It marked the first years of King George IV, who would bring to a close the glorious Georgian period.

Regency revival interiors imitated elements of the Georgian style. The tyle began with story box-shaped houses and decorated using Regency elements. Here are the elements that define Regency revival interiors:

1. Furniture

It is critical to have Regency furniture, which is elegant and often features heavy, dark wood, including mahogany, zebrawood, and rosewood. The furniture may have brass inlays with gilded metal mounts, including lion masks, female fasts, rosettes, sphinxes, winged lions, and ram’s heads. The chair and table legs may have metal paw feet borrowed from Greek and Roman design.

2. Chinois Erie

Besides being used on Georgian furniture, chinois Erie elements also appeared in interior design. The oriental elements were depicted on wall canvases, with show-stopping carved silver dragons taking center stage. Besides, chinois Erie elements were included on items such as a chandelier.

Chinois Erie elements also appeared on the wallpaper, with Regency furniture complementing the look. The wallpaper can also be placed next to panels with contrasting colors to enhance and uplift the interior décor. If you want to have the playful charm and vitality of the Regency period, these elements are a must.

3. Chaise Lounge Sofas

Another essential element of Regency revival interior is the use of chaise lounge sofas, which became fashionable with at least two of them in every home. A good example is a Grecian couch, which can turn your home into a glamorous Regency space. With that, you can bring out the best of Regency interior design. Another alternative is a sofa with bolsters at the ends and scroll ends.

4. Egyptian Décor

Egyptian décor made its way into Regency interiors following the Napoleonic conquests of the ancient land. Apart from authentic Egyptian artifacts, interior designers’ utilized imitation items and furniture created with decorative elements based on Egyptian elements like sphinxes.

5. Chandeliers

Regency Revival style isn’t complete without the use of elaborate, glamorous chandeliers. Some of the chandeliers may have chinois Erie elements, such as dragons. Regency chandeliers create great focal points in any room. However, they are great in the living room.

6. The Regency Stripe

The Regency stripe is one of the most popular elements of Regency revival interiors. It involves using a Regency stripe wallpaper to give the room a classic, elegant Regency style. During the Regency period, interior designers favored red, green, and gold stripes to make rooms look more elegant. They are great for placing around the fireplace, elevating the space to something more attractive.
