If you are looking for the classic English look with either Victorian, Regency, George II or Carlton House desks then we have a range of suitable options. The classic partners desk in walnut or mahogany is perhaps the classic executive office desk which was originally designed to be used by partners in a solicitors firm and the partners can sit opposite each other, hence the term. Of course a true partners desk will have working drawers on both sides - other desks may have faux drawers on one side and this would be referred to as a dummy partners desk. Of course if you are looking to furnish and executive office we also have matching pieces like walnut filing cabinets and various bookcases to match the desks - our range of Regency open front bookcases would be particuarly suitable and we can perfectly match up the woods with utilising the incredible polishing skills of our inhouse restorer.

Perhaps our most extensive range of antique desks would be our range of French desks, including bureau plats, Boulle desks, bureau de dames and pedestal desks. The bureau plat - or writing table - is one of our most popular desks as these are ideal for a home office set up as they have a large writing surface and look great from all angles and hence can be placed in the middle of a room.
Typically these bureau plats will be in the French Empire or Louis XVI style and will commonly feature intricate marquetry inlay and original ormolu fixtures. We do regular buying trips to Les Puces antiques market at Cligancourt in Paris and find it to be a great source for antique desks.

Another great style of antique desk would be our range of pedestal desks which features the two pedestals either side of the knee opening. Classically George II would be the popular style of this desk. They are easy to move around as the top comes off the pedestals either side so you can transport them easily and also move them into houses and apartments up stairs. Again this makes them a popular choice for contemporary living. Sometimes this style of desk is referred to as a knee hole desk. We also stock a number of kidney bean desks which are very practical as the kidney bean shape is very comfortable to sit at as the desk curves around you and works well ergonomically.

We also stock a number of matching desk chairs if you are looking for a matching whole office set up, our range of swivel action Captains chairs are a popular choice.

If you are looking for a piece of American (and British) history then the Presidents desk is also a popular choice being that it is a true partners desk and was originally a gift from Queen Victorian to the United States as a symbol to the special relationship. The original sits in the Oval Office of the White House and was made from the timbers of HMS Resolute hence is also sometimes referred to as the Resolute Desk.
