Do you intend to install a console table in a small, compact space? If so, a table with a square or rectangular top might not work well. With half-round console tables, you can efficiently utilize compact spaces and get the storage you need.

But what exactly is a half-moon console table? It is a table with its top shaped like a half-moon. The other name for such a table is the demilune or half-moon table. With this table, you do not need a full-size table. You can place it flash on the wall and create space for easy passage.

Features of Half-Round Console Tables

The half-round console table is like any other console table, the only difference being the shape of the table-top. Thus, the table-top is half-circle table-top. In some cases, it could be a perfect semi-circle. However, the table top could also have smoothed corners instead of a fully-fledged semi-circle.

Besides the semicircular table top, the console table has all the other features expected of it. For example, it could have one or two shelves below the surface. There could be a top and bottom shelf for optimum storage.

Antique half-moon console tables are made from wood. Common materials include cherry, mahogany, ebony, rosewood, etc. In many cases, the wood is highly polished with resin or other forms of varnish.

Demilune console tables mostly stand on four legs to create a sense of balance. Hence, they can carry large weights of up to 60 pounds. Some plain wood tops. However, in some cases, the top is made of faux leather.

The legs types differ based on the manufacturer. In many cases, the tables have cabriole legs. Even so, some half-round console tables have hoof-shaped legs. They could also be highly-decorated based on the time period when they were manufactured.

Why Would You Buy a Half-Round Console Table?

There are many reasons why you should consider buying a half-round console table. First, the console table is perfect for placement in the living room or foyer. You can use it to hold art pieces, photographs, and flower vases. In the drawers, you can store smaller items such as car keys.

When placed in the living room, the console table can serve as side table or sofa table. You can use it to hold phones, laptops, or TV remote controls. Plus, the console table can act as a focal point in any room standing on its own.

In the dining room, a console table can provide extra space for placing items that shouldn’t go on the main table. For example, it can be a temporary bar when you have to entertain guests. The drawers are also perfect for cutlery, napkins, and placements.

A half-moon console table can also be placed in the bedroom together with an accent chair to act as a custom vanity. With the addition of a lamp, jewelry, and perfume, etc., you can turn it into a highly-functional furniture piece.
