Bronze statues are available in many shapes and sizes. They are great for decorating homes and improving the interior decor. As an example, you could purchase bronze children statues, which feature images of the young ones.

Bronze children statues are available in many sizes to provide you with exactly what you need to decorate your home’s interior and exterior. While life-size statues are perfect for the outdoors, their smaller counterparts work well indoor.

Away from the debate about the differently sized statues? Do you know how bronze statues of any kind are made? This article provides valuable insights into the processes that go into creating the bronze sculpture you appreciate.

1. Sand Casting

Sand casting is the oldest method of creating bronzes, allowing for special such as those of children. The designer creates a child pattern for the sculpture and places it in a box or flask. The designer then fills the flask with sand and adds a binding agent to harden it.

The designer waits until the mould is cured before removing the pattern. They then melt the bronze and pour it in the children shape. The bronze will cool down and harden before being removed and finishing applied to it.

2. Lost-Wax (Investment) Casting

The lost-wax casting method involves creating the full-size model of a child or children. Using the model, the sculptor creates a mould and casts a wax model from it. Today, the sculptor may add sprues or passages through which they pour the molten bronze to enable more even introduction.

There’s an additional mould on top of wax to stop the liquid model from getting forcefully ejected from the original mould due to melted wax, vapour and steam. The sculptor waits until the bronze cools before removing the layers and filling and polishing any defects.

3. Centrifugal Casting

Centrifugal casting is perfect for cylindrical shapes. The sculptor spins a cylindrical-shaped mould on its axis as they pour the liquid metal. With this casting method, it’s possible to completely remove impurities from the metal. Plus, the shape and size of the mixture is greatly limited.

4. Continuous Casting

Another great way of creating bronze children statues is via the continuous casting method. The sculptor casts molten bronze into the cast and relies on gravity to spread it evenly. It’s a more efficient technique that ensures very little metal is lost.

Therefore, it is not only cost effective but also enables the creation of superior bronze children statues. However, this method may require relatively more metal and can be costly, especially in larger applications.

Why Are Bronze Statues Popular?

Bronze has been used to create statues for centuries due to how it’s easier to cast. It has been used to create statues of leaders, gods, animals, and ordinary mortals. Many bronze sculpture still exist in good shape mainly due to the development of patina, which prevents the metal beneath from corroding further.

Therefore, many bronze children statues from the past will likely be on perfect shape. You could buy an antique sculpture or a modern reproduction, depending on your needs and budget. Why don’t you talk to us for options?
