This week we lead with an antique Wellington chest in mahogany. Named after the first Duke of Wellington - Arthur Wellesley - who defeated Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo, the original design was an early example of campign furniture. One of the definining features - which the chest above has - is the locking bar to the side which can secure all drawers at once, perfect for speed of use when on the battlefield. Wellington also had a boot named after him... there is scant evidence that a beef Wellington was also his creation.
Continuing a similar theme, we have a plush Chesterfield leather sofa below, named - allegedly - after the 4th Earl of Chesterfield, Philip Stanhope who designed and comnissioned one for his house in the 1800s. Have a great rest of the weekend :)
