We lead with this handsome and clean Dutch display cabinet in walnut - she would take centre stage in any room, plenty of display storage space for decorative pieces, books, silverware or crockery.
Perhaps my favourite Latest Acquistion is this Victorian teapoy in walnut below. One thing I love about these items is how history intertwines with culture, taste and craftmanship. Coming out of Britain s history, we ve always had a fondness for tea thanks to our links with India and China. In the 1800s it was very expensive and the drinking of it ritualistic. Hence teapoys were created - with metal lined storage boxes - to facilitate the ceremony. Now it makes for a beautiful decorative piece with a nice story or a practical accessory for the green leaf addict.
Some of my favourite words - pukka (excellent) and hullabaloo (a commotion) - came from Hindi and entered the English language from the colonial days via India. Alongside chaiwala (tea seller). More tea please chaiwala!
