This is a classic Art Deco Mazda lamp, dating to around the 1930s, combining elegant modernist design with the warm materials that characterised the period The lamp features a beautifully shaped frosted glass uplighter shade, its flared trumpet form designed to diffuse light softly upwards and create a warm ambient glow Beneath the shade is a polished chrome collar, providing a striking contrast to the tapered column fashioned from honey-coloured wood, most likely beech or sycamore The clean geometric lines and restrained decoration are hallmarks of the Art Deco movement, which favoured streamlined forms and quality materials over excessive ornament Originally marketed under the Mazda brand name, these lamps were produced to complement the fashionable interiors of the inter-war years and remain highly sought after today for their understated elegance and practical design The combination of frosted glass, chrome and figured timber gives the piece a distinctly period feel, making it an attractive decorative lighting feature for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
