- This is a later recast from the original by Barye
- Great classical piece of art great for the study or home
- Antoine-Louis Barye (24 September 1795 – 25 June 1875) was a Romantic French sculptor most famous for his work as an animalier, a sculptor of animals
- Bought from a dealer on Marche Biron at the Paris Antiques markets
