Extensive Canteen of Silver-Plated Cutlery (c. 1900) in Campaign-Style Fitted Oak Cabinet Inscribed by the maker - Rushworths 2 Webgate Huddersfield The Grand Dinner Service: A Complete Canteen of Cutlery Rushworths was a famous, family-run department store located on Westgate in Huddersfield, often referred to as the "Harrods of Huddersfield". The store closed down in 1977, and the building is still a prominent reminder of its past The set is neatly arranged across two tiers, the upper section holding knives, forks and carving implements, including a carving knife and fork, while the lower section contains an extensive selection of serving spoons and ladles, such as sauce ladles and soup ladles, each slotted into its own shaped compartment The cutlery has elegant, restrained handles typical of early–mid 20th-century English design Silver plated cutlery and utensils are housed in the green beize and have plaques designating each section - 'Sugar Tongs' 'Tea Spoons' etc etc A large, complete Canteen of Silver-Plated Cutlery (c. 1900) in a classic pattern Housed in a handsome Oak Cabinet with a hinged lid and fitted drawers The box is enhanced by brass Campaign-style handles Auction provenance from Christie's South Kensington Measurements CM (H x W x D): H: 30 W: 45 D: 35 ED
