George II

King George II reigned over Britain and Ireland between 1727 and 1760. During that time, there arose some very unique furniture styles that tended to take on the names of the designers. The rococo movement influenced the George II style with ball and claw feet, scroll feet and cabriole legs being popular design motifs. Characteristically, George II antiques made less use of walnut and an increase in the use of mahogany. We have many pieces, including classic pedestal desks, chest on chests, bureau bookcases and cabinets. Much of these George II antiques are on display in our Canonbury Antiques Hertfordshire showroom so please get in touch if you'd like to make an appointment.
