William IV Side Table Occasional Tables Rosewood

An occasional table is just that – it has no specific use in the home. As such, it is a versatile piece of furniture that can serve many purposes. Today, we are interested in learning the many functions these tables can help in a home.

1. End Table

An occasional table may serve as a perfect end table. In that case, you can place it at the end of a couch for your convenience. If you have several of these tables, you may want to space them evenly fora symmetrical look. Or, you may want to achieve an asymmetrical appearance with the mismatched table. There is no better way to hold a house plant near a window using this table.

2. Coffee Table

A coffee table is best placed at the center of the sofa. You should leave an 18-inch margin between the couch and the table. Or, you may have a set of sofas surrounding a coffee table. Avoid using extremely small occasional tables. The correct length is about three-quarters of the length of the couch. It should not the more than four inches higher than the height of the seat.

3. Sofa Table

One of the best interior décor hacks is to place sofas away from the walls. In that case, a sofa table will go behind the couch. You can then place at most two lamps on the table for accent lighting. The table shouldn’t rise higher than the back of the sofa. Also, the coach should be a little bit longer to prevent exposure to the table.

4. Console Table

A console table has its place against a wall next to the entryway. Only that the door should open against that very wall. If put on the opposite wall, the table can be as close to the door as possible. You may hand a mirror on the wall over the table and arrange several potted plants or flowers. A convenient tray is necessary for placing mail, car keys, and other small items. Of course, a console table can be set in the foyer or hallway.

5. Bedside Table

The other name for a bedside table is a nightstand. They are placed such that they flank the bed on either side. You can then use them to hold a lamp. Due to their proximity, the lights are easy to turn on and off. They are convenient when it comes to watching TV or reading. In addition to the lamps, you may also use Nightstands to hold alarm clocks, eyeglasses, water cups, and so on. Make sure an occasional table for this purpose is at least the height of the mattress.

6. Nesting Table

The use of a nesting table is to display decorative items. You may place it in the living room or bedroom. For the latter, these tables may also serve as Nightstands. Only that they tend to be too small to conveniently reach from the bed.
Regardless of the purpose to which you intend to put an occasional table, make sure you only buy one that best suits you. We can help you make that decision. You only need to ask.
