We appeared to have acquired a host of tapestry pieces - including this large French tapestry wall hanging above - and hence thought it apt to run a needlepoint special. The work of art above really is a rich tableau of 1500s French life as it features the start of a hunt in front of the chateau. All the characters are there - a pipe player, maidens, horse riders and numerous dogs - and it is very evocative and characterful. Hung in the right spot this would really add a lovely flavour to any interior. As I look at it I can just hear the medieval notes of the troubador on his gemshorn (flute).
As you can see below, aside from wall hangings, tapestry and needlepoint work can feature on Regency fire screens and as works of art in a gilt frame - as with our giant needlepoint Scotland mourning. Have a great week :)
