This is exactly the type of piece we are renowned for here at Canonbury Antiques - big, old, full of history and would look fab in a castle. We proudly present this large antique Scottish tapestry entitled 'Scotland Mourning' (after the original by F. Hartwich). At almost six feet wide (180 CM) - the scale of the work captures the drama and enormity of the scene. The Battle of Langside was fought in 1568 between the forces of Mary, Queen of Scots and those of the Regent Moray. Langside was a colossal defeat for Mary. After this Mary was exiled forever, never to return to Scotland. The crafsmanship is superb with the intricate needlework on this museum quality work of art.
More Latest Acquisitions below include an on trend Arts and Crafts display cabinet and a sprinkling of some more Scottish pieces including a pair of bronze Highland stags. Have a great week :)
