We lead this week with an antique French inkwell in malachite we date to circa 1890. There's just something about malachite that reeks of opulence with the unique patterns and grain of this rare stone. The gilt fixtures are original and two inkpots stand either side of the stand where there is also a hollow dent for a pen. Such a decorative collectors piece, would also make for an interesting film prop for all you set decorators out there.
I guess this week is something of a Regency special as we look at early interior designer Thomas Hope (1769-1831) who almost single handedly defined the Regency aesthetic. Hence we feature a Regency centre table in satinwood alongside terracotta garden urns in the manner of Hope. Have an opulent weekend :)
