A refectory table is a wooden dining table first used by monks in monasteries from the 14th century. Its base has two pedestals or trestles with a wooden slat joining them. The first refectory tables were made from walnut, with oak becoming common by the 16th century.
In the last few years, the farmhouse kitchen has come back to homes worldwide. The country-inspired style prides itself in using vintage décor and natural materials. So, it's not uncommon to find a farmhouse kitchen with rustic, reclaimed wood furniture and other time-distressed materials for an aged took. There are also several neutral shades, including soft white, grey, beige, and greige.
