Dutch Marquetry Antiques

Dutch marquetry is a distinctive type of inlay work that first developed in Holland in the 17th Century. Marquetry inlay refers to the decoration of pieces of furniture using veneer pieces to create elaborate designs and motifs. In terms of Dutch marquetry the typical decoration includes floral motifs and arabesques. This work can be applied to various forms of furntiure, including commodes, bookcases, desks, dining tables, side tables and chests of drawers. Period Dutch marquetry from the 1700s can command very high fees on the market and is hence revered by interior designers.
