If anyone can come up with a art deco figural work that epitomises the 1920s aesthetic more than the Grand Entrance figurine as showcased above then please step forward? The flapper (am I allowed to say that?) walks down the marble stair case dress flowing over the steps in a glamorous entrance that shouts 'I'VE ARRIVED'. I am imagining a waiting retinue of suitors and lackeys holding flutes of liquid gold at the bottom as the Big Band plays 'The Charleston'. The piece is after the era defining DH Chiparus (more below) - surely the Banksy of the 1920s? - and is in great shape.
As we've had an influx of art deco bronzes this a special Roaring Twenties metal edition. Cheers and have a great week!
